Ipswich Building Society goes the whole hog for St Elizabeth Hospice

On Saturday 7th May, a team of 12 Ipswich Building Society employees, the Ipswich Trotters, will participate in the Midnight Walk to raise money for St Elizabeth Hospice, a local charity which helps improve the lives of those living with progressive illnesses.  This year marks the 10th birthday of the event and from 8.30pm participants can choose to follow either a five or ten mile route, starting and ending at Ipswich Town Football Club.

The walk will be neon themed in celebration of its birthday and there will be a host of entertainment, music and other activities to enjoy.  Everyone will also be welcomed to dedicate a memory tag to a loved one on the Tree of Remembrance outside the hospice.

Throughout 2016 Ipswich Building Society and its staff have been undertaking numerous fundraising activities in support of the hospice from smaller one off events such as cake sales and family activity days to supporting the largest mass participation art event the county has seen, Pigs Gone Wild, as its Community Engagement Partner.
For 10 weeks this summer, dozens of larger than life pig sculptures will be set out on the Pigs Gone Wild trail across Ipswich Town Centre and Waterfront before being auctioned off to raise funds for St Elizabeth Hospice.  This will include Pretty Penny, Ipswich Building Society’s official pig sculpture, whose design is both a celebration of Suffolk and incorporates elements of financial education.

Felicity Rook, St Elizabeth Hospice’s head of fundraising, said: “We are hugely grateful to Ipswich Building Society for their amazing support and dedication, fundraising for the hospice this year.
“We are delighted that they are our community engagement partner for Pigs Gone Wild and we’re overjoyed that they’re supporting us further by taking part in the Midnight Walk and organising other fundraising events to raise money. All the funds they raise will help us continue to provide vital care and support to more than 2,000 patients and their families every year.”

Paul Winter, CEO of Ipswich Building Society, said, “St Elizabeth Hospice provides specialist support for those living with progressive illnesses and their families, whether at home, in the community or at the hospice.  As an independent charity which provides its services free of charge it’s great to see so many at the Society get fully behind fundraising activities, large or small, to help the hospice continue its much needed work in the local community.”
