We believe everyone has the right to a safe home. Lack of affordable housing, debt and life events can push people from all walks of life into homelessness. Others may feel unsafe in their home through the threat of domestic abuse. We’re supporting Ipswich Housing Action Group, Emmaus Suffolk and Lighthouse Women’s Aid to provide access to safe homes.
A Safe Home for Savers and Safe Homes for our Communities.

We are where we’re from.
Suffolk through and through.
We’ve been a cornerstone of the community since 1849. Originally founded to help people buy enough land to enable them to vote – our mission to provide safe homes continues today.
In 2021 we changed our name from Ipswich Building Society to Suffolk Building Society, to better reflect the broader community we serve.
As a mutual Society, we know the importance of protecting our environment, supporting local communities and acting with integrity.
When we make a profit, it goes towards investing in the future of the Society and doing good in our community.

Safe Homes for Suffolk

Saving Suffolk
Our natural environment is under threat. We’re backing impactful initiatives to protect local nature and wildlife. Supporting Suffolk Wildlife Trust to return 289 acres of arable land back to nature at Martlesham Wilds is the first of these projects.

It’s all about you
Our mortgages make things possible.
Life isn’t one size fits all, and neither are our mortgages. Where others see numbers, we see people and we take time to understand your unique circumstances.

As you grow so will we
Saving for today. Ready for tomorrow.
There’s more to life than how much you can make. What really matters is what you do with it. We help all types of people with all types of savings and we’re here for the long term.
Driven to be better
Our values.
Approachable, friendly and personable, we are proud to be a mutual with our members at the heart of what we do. Find out more about the story behind our brand.
