We believe everyone has the right to a safe home. Lack of affordable housing, debt and life events can push people from all walks of life into homelessness. Others may feel unsafe in their home through the threat of domestic abuse. We’re supporting Ipswich Housing Action Group, Emmaus Suffolk and Lighthouse Women’s Aid to provide access to safe homes.
A Safe Home for Savers and Safe Homes for our Communities.
We are where we’re from.
Suffolk through and through.
We’ve been a cornerstone of the community since 1849. Originally founded to help people buy enough land to enable them to vote – our mission to provide safe homes continues today.
In 2021 we changed our name from Ipswich Building Society to Suffolk Building Society, to better reflect the broader community we serve.
As a mutual Society, we know the importance of protecting our environment, supporting local communities and acting with integrity.
When we make a profit, it goes towards investing in the future of the Society and doing good in our community.
Making a Difference. Together.
Safe Homes for Suffolk
Our natural environment is under threat. We’re backing impactful initiatives to protect local nature and wildlife. Supporting Suffolk Wildlife Trust to return 289 acres of arable land back to nature at Martlesham Wilds is the first of these projects.
Still Here for you
We exist to
benefit our members. Now and for the future.
It’s all about you
Our mortgages make things possible.
Life isn’t one size fits all, and neither are our mortgages. Where others see numbers, we see people and we take time to understand your unique circumstances.
As you grow so will we
Saving for today. Ready for tomorrow.
There’s more to life than how much you can make. What really matters is what you do with it. We help all types of people with all types of savings and we’re here for the long term.
Driven to be better
Our members are at the heart of everything we do.
We exist to benefit our members – now and for the future.
We’re driven by doing what’s right, not what shareholders might demand. And our reputation is based on how well we serve.
Our door is open and it’s got real people behind it.
We do everything we can to be where people need us, with the services they need.
We’re easy to understand and easy to do business with, making what we do as clear and as simple as possible. And even as more of what we do moves online, we’ll still be here if you’d rather talk.
Our community isn’t just where we are; it’s how we are.
‘Community’ goes beyond location, generation or circumstance – it happens wherever people come together.
We treat people with the warmth and reliability you’d expect from a good neighbour.
And we work as a community – one team with one set of values and one purpose.
Very helpful staff and knowledgeable and able to give clear advice on what options were available to maximise saving opportunities.
Have been meaning to open a Savings Account for some time. We have no banks left in town but we have the convenience of the Suffolk Building Society here. Staff were very helpful in opening the account and always extremely pleasant when I go in to put some money in my account. Thank you.
We took out a mortgage on our house to help children get on the property ladder and have found Ipswich now Suffolk Building Society a friendly, professional and human organisation – just like building societies and banks used to be but so few are these days. A great team of people.
Always like to support a small local building society over the big banks. The service is always excellent, the staff knowledgeable about their products and they offer a good range of competitive accounts. Our local branch is Sudbury and we have always found the staff friendly and efficient.
