The Society has been a proud supporter of the Surviving Winter appeal for many years accepting donations to help older and vulnerable people stay warm during the winter. Following the launch of the Rebuilding Local Lives appeal earlier this year to help those negatively affected by the coronavirus pandemic, the appeal has now merged to reach those in need across our County.

Background

In response to the pandemic, the Suffolk Community Foundation launched the Coronavirus Community Fund in March 2020.  Subsequently, the Rebuilding Local Lives Appeal was established as a fundraising campaign to support the work of charities and community groups, raising over £1.7 million and helping over 167,000 vulnerable people in Suffolk.

Now, the campaign has merged with the winter appeal to continue to help those affected by the pandemic and support older people in staying warm in the coming winter months.

What is the Surviving Winter appeal?

The Surviving Winter appeal aims to help raise funds to support older and vulnerable people in Suffolk to stay warm in their home this winter. Last year the appeal raised enough money to heat more than 1,000 homes, improving living conditions and offering debt support to vulnerable people who need it most. The appeal has been publicly supported by various local leaders including the High Sheriff of Suffolk Bridget McIntyre and Chief Executive of Community action Suffolk, Christine Abraham. Over the past eight years the Surviving Winter appeal has raised £615,000 with the figure growing each year.

How Ipswich Building Society can help

As a supporter of The Suffolk Community Foundation, we’re pleased to announce our continued support of the appeal by accepting donations across all 9 of our branches in Suffolk. The Society has donated £1,000 directly to the Surviving Winter appeal and has welcomed over £2,000 of donations from the general public. Additionally, we will be promoting the appeal across our social media channels and website to raise awareness of the appeal.

How can you help

If you wish to make a donation, this can be done by visiting www.suffolkcf.org.uk or by phone on 01473 602602 directly to the Suffolk Community Foundation.

To support the appeal via one of our branches, you simply need to bring in the donation via cash or cheque to a branch. Information on our branches can be found here.
