Ipswich Building Society announces two Executive Team appointments

Ian Brighton appointed to the Board as Operations Director and Rebecca Newman promoted to General Manager (Legal and HR)

Ipswich Building Society has appointed General Manager (Operations), Ian Brighton, to the Board as Operations Director and promoted Rebecca Newman, formerly Secretary and Legal Counsel, to General Manager (Legal and HR).

Ian Brighton has spent 27 years working within the building society sector and holds various mortgage qualifications, including a Diploma in Mortgage Lending. He joined Ipswich Building Society in 1995 and became a member of the Executive Team in 2006. Today, he leads the Society’s savings operation, IT function and mortgage underwriting, credit risk, forbearance and arrears management. His new appointment will increase the Society’s executive directors to three, alongside CEO, Richard Norrington and the Finance Director, Trevor Slater, who joined in January.

Rebecca Newman, formerly Society Secretary and Legal Counsel, has been promoted to General Manager (Legal and HR), joining the Society’s Executive team. Rebecca is a qualified solicitor and prior to joining Ipswich Building Society, she was employed at AXA as In-house Legal Counsel.

Commenting on the executive team changes, Ipswich Building Society’s CEO, Richard Norrington said: “I am delighted to extend our congratulations to Ian and Rebecca on their new appointments.

At Ipswich Building Society, we are committed to investing in the training and development of our staff and are always looking for opportunities to promote from within the business. The addition of an Operations Director role at Board level will help us to deliver our Corporate Strategy and the growth of our Executive Director team to three members will further strengthen our Board’s capabilities.”
